The Green Garden at the Pavlovsk Gymnasium is the first implemented case of our methodology for reformatting the school environment together with the "School Yard with Children as a Co-Authors" community. This methodology changes the environment and the relationships within the school: teachers get new tools to include the children in decision-making. It is also an opportunity to take a fresh look at the unused spaces of schoolyards.

A green garden is a place of interaction with nature, where it is possible to observe its cycles and combine a walk with lessons and homework. It is a place for thematic meetings in the warm season. This project is the first stage of large-scale changes that are taking place in one of the leading schools in Russia, the Pavlovsk Gymnasium, under the influence of the evolution of the educational system and thanks to the active participation of the community of teachers, parents, and students. The project at the intersection of architecture and education is innovative in terms of approaches and methodology.

The garden is full of playgrounds, educational and and relaxing areas. Children, teachers, and parents can choose how to spend time depending on pedagogical tasks and mood. The territory is divided into quiet and active zones, located along two routes - main and alternative, which allows to maintain a balance of privacy and publicity: to see where and what is happening, but not to interfere with others.

What zones can be located in the school yard to make it a useful educational space and a place to relieve stress?
Some usage formats are demonstrated by the Green Garden:
- green classroom: all-weather pavilion for meetings and lectures;
- a variety of motor-game routes instead of a playground;
- secluded places for solitude - houses for kids and a gazebo for high school students;
- mobile places for rest of teachers and parents' meetings;
- an eco-route for studying wildlife with a beetle, a magnifying glass, a feeder, a section of earth, fragrant herbs, a vegetable garden, a greenhouse.
